The project at Grenaa Port can become the pilot project which can be the start of another extension of Danish wind power, says project manager Ole Bundgaard Jensen, Jysk Vindkraft A/S, Nykøbing Mors, about the project which Jysk Vindkraft A/S together with Grenaa Havn A/S and NEG Micon present in the exhibition ”The Wind & the Sea” in Kattegatcentret.
At the opening of the exhibition, there was great backing to the project. The last year has been used for paper work among other things approval at the Danish Energy Agency, subsequent EIA-investigation and preparation of design for the technical conditions. These investigations are to inform about the impact of the project on the surrounding environment and the technical basis. Grenaa Port is the right placing of a pilot project of the 9 offshore wind turbines, said mayor Gert Schou, Grenaa, when he officially opened the exhibition. Gert Schou laid down that Grenaa through several years has focused on energy – and the environmental optimisation: - The government and Folketinget (the Danish parliament) will not get more than necessary home in green taxes from the industrial and trade companies in Grenaa. As regards attitude and environment we have the right placing for the first coast-near project for offshore wind turbines. We have also central location for assembly and shipping of offshore wind turbines to Kattegat. The wind turbines will both from land and sea signal CO² -free energy production – a Danish product when it is best. An export article which gives good employment within the iron industry and deflected industries – especially in Denmark, but also abroad, said Gert Schou who officially opened the exhibition with the words: An old Chinese proverb says that when the wind blows, some people build windbreaks and others build wind turbines. We do the latter. For the municipal of Grenaa and Grenaa Port these turbines will be a fine landmark, which supplements already environmental and energy initiatives and at the same time a technological development in the new millennium. Member of the energy political committee of Folketinget (the Danish parliament), Kim Andersen (from a Danish Liberal political party) says, that Kalkgrunden opposite to Grenaa Port for a long time has tempted for erection of wind turbines: It is true that Kalkgrunden is not "the grand sea" – 2 of the planned wind turbines are actually placed on land while 7 are standing on the territorial sea. This can sound complicated that you locally decide the 2 wind turbines, while the political authorities take care of the 7. However, I hope that the many competent powers, which are behind the pilot project Grenaa Havn Vindenergi, efficiently will be able to carry the project through the many eyes of a needle of the authorities. I think that you have made a fine project and I wish you all the best with it, concluded Kim Andersen, who among other things said, that Folketinget (the Danish parliament) just now has created new legal frames, which will ensure that also other electric companies will have the possibility of investing in wind power on the sea. And the financial support to the plants has been negotiated. The price will be guaranteed for 10 years. Organisation secretary Asbjørn Bjerre, Danmarks Vindmølleforening, described the exhibition ”The Wind & the Sea” as a good and objective exhibition about the project.
The county of Aarhus would very much like to and with an open mind enter the phase of the work which is now ahead and deals about a specification of the project, was the statement from the chairman of the committee for engineering and environment in the county of Aarhus, Bo Fibiger. The exhibition ”The Wind & the Sea”, which is placed just next to the newly established shark pool, is very extensive with among other things electronic possibilities in order to acquaint oneself with the project. At the same time it is possible from the bastion of the Kattegatcenter in a telescope to see how the wind turbines will look from the southern mole and Kalkgrunden just outside the port. Modern technology is good at this kind of visualisation. The EIA statement and the visualisation have subsequently been finalized and can be downloaded. |
